W50 Women's Champion Gets Direct Accept Singles Wild Card into WTA 250 ATX Open - February 20-28, 2027

PLAYER ANNOUNEMENT: SLOANE STEPHENS

Sloane Stephens plays in Austin.

Former US Open champion and World No. 3 Sloane Stephens is set to compete in the DropShot Series Women’s Pro Tennis Open, taking place October 18–24 at Courtyard Racquet Club in Austin. Stephens, one of the most accomplished American players of her generation, captured the 2017 US Open singles title and reached a career-high ranking of World No. 3. She is also a familiar face to Austin tennis fans, having previously competed in the ATX Open.

“We’re incredibly excited to welcome a US Open Grand Slam champion like Sloane to Austin,” said Christo van Rensburg, tournament director at DropShot Series. “Having a player of her caliber in the competition gives everyone at Courtyard Racquet Club and the academy a rare opportunity to see greatness up close. As we kick off our inaugural two weeks of ITF events at Courtyard, having Sloane compete makes the experience that much more special for the entire Austin tennis community.”

The Women’s Pro Tennis Open features $40,000 in prize money and the winner will receive a wild card into the main draw of the ATX Open in February. The women’s tournament is the second of two professional tournaments at Courtyard as the DropShot Series brings back-to-back weeks of ITF competition to Austin this October.

Stephens’ addition to the field gives Austin tennis fans the opportunity to see a Grand Slam champion compete up close as professional tennis returns to Courtyard.
