Brengle, a former world No. 35, advanced with a 7-6(2), 6-3 victory over 17-year-old qualifier Thea Frodin, who had previously upset top seed Sloane Stephens. Mandlik secured her semifinal spot with a pair of tiebreak victories over No. 4 seed Barbora Palicova, 7-6(3), 7-6(4).
