Sloane Stephens Connects with Austin Tennis Community During Special Q&A

Sloane Stephens

The 2017 US Open champion and former world No. 3 Sloane Stephens spent time with the Austin tennis community during a special Q&A session at Courtyard Racquet Club as part of the DropShot Series Women’s Pro Tennis Open.

Stephens answered questions from local tennis fans, sharing insights from her professional career, the mental side of competition and how the sport has evolved throughout her years on tour.

Reflecting on the challenges of professional tennis, Stephens emphasized the importance of adapting to the ups and downs of competition.

The conversation also turned to her work off the court through the Sloane Stephens Foundation, which serves approximately 20,000 children annually through tennis, swimming, soccer and other youth development programs.

“It’s been the best part of my tennis career,” Stephens said of the foundation’s work. She spoke about the importance of introducing young people to opportunities through sports and helping them discover the impact tennis can have on their lives.

The session offered Austin tennis fans a chance to connect with a Grand Slam champion beyond the competition, hearing firsthand about the experiences, challenges and community initiatives that continue to shape her career.

She takes the court for the DropShot Series Women’s Pro Tennis Open today, October 20th, for her first round match.
